And so the papers speculate royally again

So shock horror and hold the front page, Prince William wants two children.

He made the 'bold' announcement whilst on a tour of the Far East with his wife Kate and as a result the newspapers are now having a field day about the impending pitter patter of little royal feet.

Somehow simply stating how many children you want is on a par with announcing that your wife is pregnant in the eyes of eager journalists.

William did admittedly also say the couple are hoping to start a family soon and of course the papers are speculating that 'soon' could be when the pair return from this tour.

But the fact is I can't say I am blown away by this news. To put this into perspective, William and Kate are a young married couple. In fact they have been married a good year. To be honest I expected to hear an announcement that Kate was pregnant before now.

They are both 30 after all – the same age as me – and so they are at an ideal age to start raising a family. If anything I would have thought Kate would have been keen to have a baby sooner. Not to say that she is too old to have children already, but being the future king of England's wife is now her sole occupation so you would think she wouldn't mind having children soon after marriage as she does not have to think too much about giving up a career and so on.

There was however talk that Kate could be pregnant already as during a recent toast at dinner she chose to take a sip from her water, rather than her wine glass. Testament at just how desperate the media is to get the story she is with child. However, you only have to look at her ultra slender frame to realise there is certainly no baby in there yet.

I guess that could be part of the sacrifice for Kate, losing her pencil thin figure, which she seems to have put a lot of effort into achieving since hooking up with William this most recent time. Don't get me wrong, she has never been anything near overweight but she certainly isn't naturally that slim.

Children is all about sacrifice whether it be your current lifestyle or your figure, if a woman, or the precious time you spend together solely as a couple.

But it doesn't look like the duo are going to have too much more time to dilly dally anyway with all eyes on Kate's waistline for a hint of a bump, and I'm sure the Queen will be quite keen for some great-grandchildren soon as well.
